Laura Shriver - Group Fitness Instructor/
Laura Shriver’s love affair with yoga started over 10 years ago. Having been a competitive swimmer, an avid cyclist, climber and runner, the art of using her body as a vehicle in which to learn about herself was a well-ingrained concept. This concept was solidified with hours and years of vigorous training. It wasn’t until Laura started exploring yoga that she woke up to a softer side of discipline, studentship, and devotion. Through yoga, Laura has learned the art of loving and appreciating her body and the extraordinary things that it can do. The love affair of yoga has meant awakening to Laura’s truest potential, embracing goodness, and being grateful for the splendor that resides in her and in all other beings. A yoga practice has given Laura the gift of awareness into how to train her body with compassion, something that now pulses through everything she now does on and off the mat.
Rachel Alter
Rachel Alter's interest in yoga started during a stay at an ashram in India. She woke up early on the morning of her 23rd birthday to practice and has been practicing almost every day since. While she may not have the years of experience that some teachers offer, her passion more than compensates. Rachel finds herself open and optimistic and much more willing to take each obstacle and the lessons that it provides since exposing herself to the spiritual teachings and philosophy of yoga. Physically, yoga provides Rachel (and she hopes her students) with a fun workout that is both vigorous and relaxing at once. One of the aspects of yoga that Rachel finds most attractive is its versitility and usefullness in daily life. Since Rachel started riding bikes, she is certain that yoga contributes to injury prevention, balance, strength, and stamina. These benefits are evident both physically and psychologically, and Rachel hopes to inspire others to find such things on and off their yoga mats and bikes. In addition to practicing yoga, Rachel loves being outdoors, swimming, biking, taking photos, and playing with kids. When she's not teaching yoga, you'll most likely find her on her bike or in headstand at a park somewhere!
Chadwick McGinnis
Chadwick offers yoga classes, indoor cycling, and chair massage. He is a member of the O2 racing team and is working towards a certification in Pilates. He is grateful to be a part of O2 because it allows him to immerse himself in three areas that have been prevalent in his life: bicycling, yoga and bodywork. He was first introduced to yoga when he was young and felt like it was something that added balance to his life. In 2004, Chadwick discovered Anusara Yoga and found himself completely drawn in by its fullness and depth. He found his teacher Darren Rhodes and was encouraged to begin the process of becoming an instructor. In 2007 he completed 300 hours of teacher training through Yoga Oasis, a studio dedicated to Anusara Yoga. The experience of teaching has urged him to go beyond what he knows and dig deeper as a practitioner of yoga to offer back his findings to his students. Chadwick's other interest is helping people heal through massage. With his chair massage, Chadwick offers a blend of swedish massage and shiatsu. Yoga has in many ways deepened his understanding of the body and has lent itself to the treatments that he offers at O2. Giving bodywork reminds him to be present and feels that it helps those that he's working with to do the same. He works hard to make sure that he creates a safe, secure environment so that people are able to experience their unique whole selves again.
